The Beauty of Black

When ancient Egyptian kings, European queens, and modern scientists come together on an issue, it’s probably worth hearing out. Although today we have more access to information than ever before, we still have a lot to learn from history.

From Hippocrates and Cleopatra, to King Tut and the civilizations that followed, a strange commonality they shared was the value they placed on a certain herb.

That herb is no other than black seeds also known as kalonji in Urdu or otherwise known as Habbatus Sawdah in the Arabic language.

As the saying goes “Tiny yet mighty” these black seeds nonetheless emulate this maxim.

The health benefits that kalonji provides are simply enormous. So as to enrich our knowledge, I shall list down a few of these benefits:

  1. Want to improve your Immunity?
Nigella seeds can be touted as an ‘immunity enhancer’ and helps in treatment of conditions related to immunity like AIDS.
  2. Want to be called a genius!

Research has found that nigella seeds not only help improve beauty, but also act as a secret remedy to increase memory power and retention.

  1. What to do with those monthly cramps?
Eating black seeds is associated with relieving stomach pain and cramps
  2. Operation converting dreams into a reality-Luscious Black locks!

The black seed oil plays a significant role in hair growth stimulation by strengthening the hair follicles which result in strong hair roots.

  1. An emmenagogue and galactagogue

It increases the flow during menstruation and the production of milk

  1. A diuretic

It increases urine flow by ridding the body of excess water

  1. A carminative
It rids the body of gas from the intestines
  2. A stimulant
It increases the flow of adrenaline and energy
  3. A vermifuge
    It expels worms.

Above, only a few benefits have been emphasized yet black seeds provide a treasure trove for the seeker.

After all Abu Hurayrah, may Allah be pleased with him, narrated that the Prophet (Peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said:

“Use this Black Seed regularly, because it is a cure for every disease, except death.”
[Al-Bukhari and Muslim]

‘Being useful’ is simply a characteristic of all Sunnah foods, and Habbatus Sawdah is no exception. More importantly this highlights the mercy of our Creator who ordains for us only that which is beneficial.

Muslims have been using and promoting the use of the Black Seed for hundreds of years, and hundreds of articles have been written about it. The Black Seed has also been in use worldwide for over 3000 years. It is not only a prophetic herb, but it also holds a unique place in the medicine of the Prophet (Peace and blessings of Allah be upon him).

But dear enthusiastic readers Do remember- Consistency is the Key whilst yaqeen and tawakkul (belief in Allah) is the lock

None work without the other, so it’s incumbent to have both, we aren’t speaking of a miracle treatment that works within days, we are speaking of miracle that is so close at hands and that should be used for days!!

So, what are we waiting for, let’s open up those kitchen cabinet doors and now make use of our black beauties that have until now personifying sleeping beauties.
